This is the NC State Capital Building located in Downtown Raleigh. It's a beautiful building with a rich history. You can go inside for a visit, see some artifacts, and learn all about it. There are statues outside surrounding the Capital building. It's a great place to take the kids, especially if they're studying NC in school. We were actually here for an event. It was a beautiful day.

Signed condolences book for Queen Elizabeth II, everyone was very friendly and helpful! Self-toured the building.

Questions & Answers

There is a large parking lot next to the museum. Pretty much across the street. They charge by the hour for parking.

We managed to find a spot on a street close by for $1 an hour. And it took us, a family of four, about 4.5 hours to go through the Capitol building, the History Museum, and the Science Center.

The capitol building and museum, science museum and history museum are always free except for certain members only events. The art museum on blue ridge is free most of the time as well but has the most exhibits or events that cost money

Hello, my 4th grader would like to tour the capital this Saturday. Is there anything special we need to do? Thanks, Connie

The building should be open regular hours as far as I've heard. Keep in mind the legislature meets on Jones Street, but the governor has his office there. Note that there are metal detectors in the building that you will have to pass through. Definitely check out the museum of history across the street, and walk around the capital to look at all of the statues.

Where do you park?

Street parking and paid parking lots. It's $1-2/hour. Might have to walk a few blocks, but in the weekdays it is not that bad.
