Great place with great opportunities for women. I highly recommend looking into the volunteering opportunities and after school programs offered by the YWCA!

Unfortunately no This is more of the "boys and girls club" type of Y. Try the WYMCA (Brod st Hartford,CT) or the Salvation Army (South Marshall St)

Hello Maria. All shelters now require you to call 211 who set up an appt. for an assessment of your situation and needs usually at Mercy house in Hartford. 211 info line documents every time you call for help which makes a timeline for you. THIS IS IMPORTANT because if you go to any agency for assistance like the Salvation Army, Greater Hartford Urban League for housing assistance all of this works in your favor. There is security deposit assistance available too but most act like it doesn't exist. Staying with family and friends works against you when claiming homelessness. If any businesses help you get names and numbers and theiDon't accept no as an absolute answer. Keep asking for assistance. I was homeless for 1.7 years and mostly lived in my car. I got into the Y when I lost my car and was on the street, but my Heavenly Father saw me through. Journey Home in Hartford gives Section 8 vouchers if you can prove homelessness for 1 year and they help with basic apt needs. Best 2u.
