This place is a joke. Rarely answer the phone. Never able to get ahold of the people who should be caring for my family member. Won’t tell my family member or me ANYTHING about their care. I can’t even get any information about helping them leave and try to find another facility that ACTUALLY WILL HELP

Very loving and caring people ❤️

I was sent here against my will due to being legally kidnapped (AKA pink slipped). I'm shocked at the amount of reviews that describe nearly identical traumatic experiences from this sad excuse for a "hospital". I developed severe PTSD and mistrust in medical health professionals as a direct consequence of my treatment at OHP. Here are only a few of the many bad experiences I had happen there: I was not included AT ALL in my care plan formation nor was I filled in regarding any treatment or care plans. I spent 4 days in painful withdrawal due to not being administered my prescribed SSRI's that are notorious for unbearable withdrawal symptoms if suddenly stopped. This never should have happened. The staff were verbally abusive to both me and other patients, were completely impatient and lacked zero empathy or compassion towards an already vulnerable population. I suspect there is very little training required to work here...which is scary. While I was there, my family and doctors tried desperately to reach me only to be told that I was being uncooperative and they needed my permission to talk to them. I was never notified that anyone had called for me. Other patients had similar experiences. The staff does their best to prevent any and all communication between patients and the outside world...one can only imagine why. As a medical health professional myself, I was appalled at the conditions here and especially at the blatant disregard for human dignity and autonomy. The trauma I experienced here impacted me so severely that I have had to leave my career in the medical field until I heal and gain more trust back for doctors and nurses. The fact that so many people are being sent to this place against their will, and walk out even more traumatized and mentally damaged than when they walked in is evidence enough that OHP should be shut down ASAP. ANY medical professional who sends a patient here does NOT have that patient's wellbeing and health as a top priority. Ohio hospital for psychiatry is a dangerous and damaging place. After being out for almost 11 months, I am STILL suffering from the PTSD I developed under their deceptive "care".

My cousin was pink slipped here after showing suicidal thoughts coming off a drug bender. Already traumatized by a domestic dispute and being in the back of a police car it only got worse from there. He knew when they told him where they were sending him that it was gonna be bad from knowing that OHP is a PTSD nightmare from reading reviews previously. Countless other reviews stating active PTSD after leaving this facility. Most of the nurses are incredibly rude and would rather socialize in the office behind the nurses station than actually help any patients. An older lady in a wheelchair was constantly ignored by staff and had to be wheeled around by other patients. He had multiple panic attacks and blood pressure spikes and nurses refused to give anything to calm these panic attacks even after days and days of multiple panic attacks and visible blood pressure spikes. His last day there he described as a bad acid trip. There are no books, only some word searches and coloring pages with DULL pencils. Most staff refused to do basic things like sharpen pencils to do one of the ONLY activists there is to do at this dump. Whoever the lady in charge of the groups would never call out that there was a group and she showed up maybe twice in his 5 days there. She did not attempt to engage anyone. Total joke. Had to ask staff behind nurses desk for the remote every time you wanted to change the Channel. He was placed in the violent all mens unit at first and took multiple panic attacks for them ti finally switch him to dual diagnosis where he should have been sent in the first place. I could write about this all night as I’m shocked how this place is still open after all the accounts of PTSD leaving this place. Only saving grace was miss Mary and miss shay who actually care about their jobs and took time to actually speak to patients with compassion and take them out for some air. Food was gross almost everyday for every meal. There is something absolutely creepy about this place and Just stay away unless you want PTSD

Stupid! But it all depends on the unit the person is on. But if you talk with their case worker you can sometimes schedule different times to come up.
