Definitely not what it used to be. I assume this place has suffered since the COVID shut down. It's always been dated but clean and everything in working order. Aside from the staff, this last visit was a big disappointment. They couldn't keep clean towels in supply we had to wait for towels to be washed (no pool towels either). We're not talking an inconvenience for just one night, this was over the course of 4 nights. Standing at the front desk for just a few minutes there were complaints about a toilet not working, an AC unit not working, also all of the phones were down. Our toilet paper holder was broken but that was the least of my concerns lol They have two pools which is why our family has loved coming here nearly every summer. The pools are not cared for as well as they used to be. The smaller one is very dirty and you can't even see the bottom on the deep end. The poolside chairs and tables are all in rough shape. It appears as though they are not replacing them. There are old fabric conference room chairs mixed in. They used to have dozens of chaise lounge chairs by both pools and now they're are only a total of two that get moved back and forth between the two pools...they are both barely hanging on. There is a gentlemen at the counter Bill, who is a bit condescending and not customer service friendly. After taking to him on the phone a few times and in person, you can tell he does not care about things from the guests perspective. The ladies at the front desk were always understanding and helpful but it seems like they are being asked to do the impossible to keep guests happy while this plane seems to be barely functioning. Maria was our saving grace throughout the trip. She did everything she could to get us towels, toiletries, garbage emptied etc. She is a gem that this place is lucky to have. If it were not for her, our trip would have been a complete loss. 5 stars for Maria! I will say this place is probably fine for the youth that come here for local sporting events or for a one night stay on a long drive but it's not the family friendly hotel we used to love.

This place was, okay at best. The pool was ice cold, on a 90° day it wasn't warm enough to sustain life, I mean that literally, it was frigid. The first night went well, we needed an extra blanket and pillow and Maria the front desk manager was more than happy to oblige and sent it to our room in a very timely manner. We hadn't been away from home in a long time so we decided to stay an extra night, that was a mistake! I saw one of the housekeepers Cassandra, very nice young lady in the hallway and told her we had decided to stay another night and that my wife had gone to the front desk to make those arrangements. I told her We were going to my son's football game and we'd be gone four or five hours at least. When we got back nothing had been done in our room, none of the trash cans had been emptied we didn't have fresh towels everything was soaking wet they hadn't done anything. It just so happened I saw Cassandra and she told me that her boss the head housekeeper Liz had told her not to clean our room. Not sure what her problem was, but she definitely has one. Huge horrible bad attitude, she acted like I had kicked her puppy before, although I know I have never met that woman before in my life as I had never been to Yakima before in my life. I called the front desk for my cell phone as they had no phone service in the rooms, I spoke with Bill who said something really stupid, in fact it was so stupid I can't remember what it was he said, he was rude, he was argumentative and not customer service oriented in any way shape or form. I asked if I could speak with the manager who happened to be Maria he said well maybe she could call me back I said no I can hold he said okay and hung up on me. I went to the front desk and spoke to Maria and again she was very pleasant and after some conversation about why the room hadn't been changed because of some covid rules that no longer applied was the reason Liz instructed Cassandra not to clean our room. She was laying down cover for Liz which I understand but that's still wrong. She then had the room cleaned, and it turned out to be Cassandra again who cleaned the room, she did a great job and it was immaculate. If you're someone out there looking for a great employee, call the Red Lion Inn and ask for Cassandra and hire her right away. As for the Red Lion Hotel, the room was good, the service was lousy the second day, fortunately for us there were a couple people who were very helpful. Would we stay there again, it's a 50/50 shot that we would run into bill again so I think not.

Where to start. Under new ownership. Obviously understaffed. Building is getting run down. Broken concrete steps, dirty pools, stained carpets in rooms, toilet doesn't like to flush. Building in major need of repair and updating. Breakfast was a joke. They couldn't keep the food stocked. Lots of people standing around waiting. I didn't even get to eat on first day. It's a prime location being close to freeway and right next door to convention center. Hope they get their act together and refurbish this hotel.

The person at the front desk we dealt with was very nice and friendly. We had 2 rooms reserved but 1 room was in the corporate building, which has no elevator, so we couldn't use the second floor room we were assigned. Staff change our room quickly. As to the facility it is at least 10 years past when a renovation should have taken place. Of the 2 rooms we were assigned 1 had no refrigerator, the other had no microwave and the outside handle to the sliding glass door was missing. 1 room had no toilet paper and apparently they do not stock an extra roll. We were there for a convention and a number of people complained about running out of toilet paper and had to call for more. If there is anything that should not happen in a hotel, having to get toilet paper delivered is not one of them. It is cleared that the reason this hotel exists is it's proximity to the Convention Center. And in reviewing other reviews the owner is not really interested in making any changes. They say all the right things in their replies (we're sorry you did not enjoy your stay, we will have an internal review with our staff ect ect.) But judging from the multitude of reviews it is just lip service.

The food & service here are like any other bar. It's not always great but it's usually adequate. No reason to worry about it but I wouldn't send any invites to connoisseurs.

If I'm a resident in the city where red lion is located I'm I still able to book a room there

Of course you can book a room there even if you're local.
