I can tell you that the staff does care about these kids but we're faced with a severe staff shortage. Those who are still here work hours of overtime to make sure they're getting the services needed. Admin took action to move the minors that were causing problems to accommodate the community. However, MercyFirst was here before any type of community was built so those complaining may want to keep this in mind before posting.

Mercy First is and has always been a horrifying problem and ongoing threat to the safety and quality of life to our community in Syosset. Us as residents pay some of the highest taxes in the area, just to have their juveniles escape freely on an almost daily basis and terrorize our neighborhoods and businesses with crime. The juveniles don’t change their behavior, the staff doesn’t care since the problems keep repeating, and the residents pay the price. This place needs to be shut down. It is the thorn of Syosset and every single person I have spoken to feels the same.

This facility has not been supervising the young adults who have been terrorizing our town. Now our small businesses has suffered a huge hit recently. Who else is going to be faced with another incident is a terrifying thought. Please be more diligent!!! 😡

This quiet small town is being tortured by the kids that reside there. Every month is something new. They are robbing local stores and breaking into cars. The staff clearly does not care and does a quite horrible job impacting these kids. This type of place belongs in the inner city, not in a place where taxes are 16k. Most kids there dont even want to be here. Shut. This. Place. Down.

I am a resident of Dix Hills and was saving up some very nice clothes - some younger people’s-l, nice towels and sheets I was just replacing and would love to donate along with a lot of toiletries samples I have from spas,5 star hotels, etc. can I bring over Monday?
One of the programs at MercyFirst treats immigrant children waiting to go to family/sponsors in the US. DHS handles immigration and partners with the ORR to care for unaccompanied immigrant children. I'm guessing that's why.
