Beautiful place to kayak! Easy to launch and parking for about 8 to 10 cars. Gentle current. To the left, The creek winds through the woods and is a good escape on a hot day. To the right, a railroad bridge and the creek winds through a sunny meadow. In both directions, plenty of beavers, herons, turtles, frogs, and fish.

Pros: gentle water, barely a current. Lots of turtles, saw some unique birds. 'Launch' site is easily accessible, close to the parking. Cons: water is very murky, stagnant, so there's lots of bugs. Easily effected by storms so the length was very limited due to downed trees blocking the waterway. Narrow and shallow, so be sure you can properly steer your kayak since some places are single file, and you have to avoid branches and plant tangles under water.

Been kayaking the Black Creek from the Highland launch on Route 299 for several years now. You can kayak in either direction. To the left, Creek is wider, to the right is narrow & windy. Lots of wildlife. One of my favorite places.

Great place to kayak. Lots of turtles, beaver lodges, beavers, owls and countless birds. Never disappoints.

So thankfully the flow of the stream is not too strong and there are places along the creek where you could easily turn around and return to the point where you had launched. Hope that helped!
