Front desk staff was nice and helpful. The room was super clean and the bed was comfortable. I slept so well that I nearly slept through my alarm.

We came just to rest the night and swim in the morning, the night girl was so sweet and helpful. However, the morning lady really needs training! To start off it was 7:30am and the breakfast was completely empty. I went to the front desk and couldn't find anyone. The other guests said she is out smoking. I was a night manager at a motel and having hot breakfast and fully stocked is a h8ge deal, and smoking while you have customers wanting to eat, check out and anything else your guests need is a huge no no!!! When I went out to get her to get some food on the breakfast bar she told me she didn't know how to make the waffle mix that why there wasn't anymore made. There was absolutely no drinks no nothing there! Enough about breakfast, please look at my pictures. The room is very dirty like needs a good cleaning!! The phone made me sick and didn't even have my room number on it. There was an old receipt in the drawer with grocery bags so clearly they don't clean or check things. The pool opened at 8am we were there at 8 sharp. There was never a person there that checked chemicals ir cleaned the pool area. We felt like we would catch something if we got in. Remember this was the reason we even stayed. My son wanted to swim. Again please look at my pictures. I absolutely love my motel job and took pride in it and absolutely loved my guests and wanted to make sure they felt at home while they were there. This place made me miss home!!! I travel through Clarinda 2 times a year but will probably not stay here again!!

I have stayed in this motel many times, but at this point I can no longer advise doing so. The decor is decent, if a bit worn, as is most of the motel. Rooms are decent overall, although it is obvious they have not been updated from whenever they had "square" TV's, lol. Technology is not high on the priority list here, most motels have USB chargers built into lamps and such on the desk/side tables at this point, none here. Wifi is underpowered considering the hotel was nowhere near full and watching Netflix or Youtube caused buffering a fair amount. Bed is a bit stiff for my taste, your mileage may vary, but I would say most hotel beds in this area are bit softer, bothers my achey shoulder but they are not unreasonable. I actually like the colors. It does have a nice pool, which in all my stays I have never used, so maybe that means something to you. The "breakfast" is a joke, I went to McDonalds which is fortunately close. The refrigerator in my room broke the first night, when I put food in there it was cold, next day it was room temperature, and the food was ruined. Was told on checking in they had just had a management change, so possibly maintenance was being deferred and they need time to get things straight. They price was also in my opinion excessive, and about $20 more than quoted online, so make sure you ask and get a reservation beforehand. All that said, the staff was friendly, it was clean and I slept OK mostly, but I was disappointed overall. There is an even more expensive, newer hotel in town, and I am undecided if I will give them a try next time I stay here or see if the "management change" has improved things. I actually used to like this one, so I hope it improves. Even now, if it had not been for that darn refrigerator I probably would have been just, meh not terrible. Maybe keep a close eye on it if you decide to risk it :)
