Impossible to see primary care doctors because receptionist sits there and let's phone ring and NEVER answers it. Today I sat almost two hours after they said my doctor was at lunch only to find out he wasn't there and won't be until 3 days later. They treat Veterans at primary care with disdain. Emergency room is best bet to see a doctor, and it's a toss up how you will be treated if God forbid you are admitted. I have some horror stories and a few good ones. But have been waiting months for biopsy results for cancer the first inconclusive the second only God knows if or when I will get those results or as the say have to do it again. All the 5 stars have to be the employees š Some wards I would give 5 stars but mostly interns and never consistent doctors after gaining experience on veterans and finishing their internship they leave.. Used to be top notch when old director was there.

I showed up the the hospital with a recently dislocated knee and an inability to walk. When I asked for a wheel chair, I was told none were available. After I was looked at, I was given no plan of care. Simply told to go home and reach out to my PCP in two weeks. I asked for crutches and the ER doctor was both highly unprofessional and refused to supply them to me. So, I quite literally hopped my way to the exit. Thankfully, the patient advocate stepped in to help me the next day (hence the second star). He was awesome. After a few hours of work, he got me a set of crutches and a plan of care. The ER should be written up for unprofessional conduct. Iād be happy to elaborate to any VA Hospital representative.
