If you want someone to spend less than 30 seconds on the phone with you, giving off the sense you're wasting his time, and show zero interest in what you are requesting....then this is your guy.

Dropped off a vintage S&W revolver with issues. A few weeks later, the Garretts returned a repaired and re-blued beauty with a phenomenal double/singe action trigger pull. Don't chance sending things to the factory so it gets lost in the mail, shop local, support fellow Virginians.

Sandy helped my out of a tight spot when I needed something done immediately. He could have charged my 3x and I would have happily paid it as I had no choice. He didn't do that. I was astonished at how reasonable he was. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

Professional gunsmith who provides high quality work. I've had a few items worked on and everything I've gotten back, is better than I expected. The owner is to the point, provides you the work needed, price, and turnaround, which are all reasonable. I will continue to come back and recommend this place.

Questions & Answers

Whats the procedure for entering the shop? I need a gun license along with a decent gun.

Disclaimer, I am not a lawyer. Take this with a grain of salt. If you live in Virginia, you don't need a license to own a gun. You go in, pick your gun, then pay to fill out a background check form. If you clear the background check, you pay for and go home with your gun. The thing you need a license for in Virginia is concealed carry. You can open carry without it, and you can transport it in a closed container in your car without it as well, such as putting a pistol in your glovebox, but if it's out and accessible in your car that counts as "concealed" legally, even if it's visible to someone in the car or at the window, because it's accessible to you but "obscured from common observation," meaning a given passer-by. As for a decent gun, for handguns which I'll bet is what you're after, I recommend any reliable double-stack of .380 ACP or higher caliber, preferably 9mm due to it hitting the "sweet spot" for reliable performance and concerns such as capacity, recoil, etc.

Where can I get a professional appraisal on my guns?

Do think NVGA does that. Check the NRA or WWW.
