I use to love this place. Hunting, fishing, camping, hiking all of it was great here. Now it's extremely over crowded and people going out there these days are just too much. The days of old are gone, the pigs are gone, most of the trails closed, and big bucks are few and far between. It's still very beautiful wilderness though and I will always have great memories of how it was. 😊

I went here for the opening day of Bow season. Don't go here during Bow season if you think you're going to have a nice calm day. I've never seen so many trucks, it looked like a beer commercial!

Quit shutting the roads down first it was Jane's scenic now its 120th to the end shut down we pay the taxes to maintain and do all the work out there so unless you want a lawsuit you better get it all re opened. Government needs to stop trying to force citizens into cities. People look what they are doing they don't want us out there it's all social conditioning soon we'll be completely banned from the state park it'll probly be totally closed soon past the first gate... we need to stand up to this tyranny and start taking signs down. the government is taking too much control of our freedom of movement 14th amendment and need to be stopped at all cost

Of course... No problem... People take their dogs there all the time ... Please be alert to the fact that there are wild critters in the Picayune... If your dog is obedient and doesn't run too far away when unleashed and isn't overly aggressive... No problem... Please keep in mind the fact that there are Wild Panthers, Large Black Bear, Bobcat, Deer and myriad other wild animals to include alligators along the canals in the Picayune ... An unleased dog who's adventuresome could get caught up in the moment... And become dinner for a wild critter if you don't pay attention to the surroundings. Have a great time... Just be aware. Blessings! 😉😁😎
Good bug spray at least Deet 30. I work on alligator alley everyday and remember it's rainy season
there is a boat ramp by port of islands but I dont think it's an official point of entry there is supposed to be designated boat ramps but the state has not provided them yet
You can arrive at any time ...
you've been mis informed they have not allowed atvs in the park in a decade
