I asked for a wheelchair accessible room when making the reservation. I was told there was one available so we drove to the Holiday Lodge in Oak Hill WV. When we got to the room I discovered that I could not get my wheelchair through the bathroom door. The bathroom had no accessibility options, other than one grab bar in the shower. The bathroom was also exceptionally tiny. When I spoke to the general manager manager Sarah, she approached me with disdain toward my problem as well as insinuating that i was lying about asking for an accessible room when making our reservation. I said, "I would not have come if I wasnt told the the room was accessible". Going to another hotel proved rather difficult because the other hotels in the area were booked and we were in the middle of a storm. I asked for a refund because I was going to have to use the public restroom up by the front desk everytime I needed and there was no accessible shower anywhere. Sarah the General Manager, only took $10 off for the loss of all the bathroom amenities in the room. Then she rubbed salt in the wound by telling me "I guess we will see you when you come up here to use the restroom". My long push through the carpet all the way to the bathroom from my room was so difficult; my shoulders are still sore. My husband also found a big wet spot on the floor where there was a leak in the ceiling. It kept him up at night by dripping every six seconds. The breakfast buffet was minimal, to say the least, as well. When I eventually got to another hotel, up the road, the woman at the front desk told me that she does not recommend people stay at the Holiday Lodge in Oak Hill WV, and neither do I.

Hotel is older but clean. Indoor pool. Needs some updating. Peeling wallpaper in hallways. Staff pleasant & helpful.

Passing through from Ohio, on a detail, we had time to take a detour. From other places to choose from there still is a certain budget, we thought this would meet both comfort and budget. And for the most part, they did that...we came in kinda late so we told the night attendant we were in and passing for a detail and would like to use the Military/Government discount they offer..this attendant was not trained how to do so and asked for us to check back in the morning, that was fine. We checked back and spoke to Sara Nelson (The GM) She unfortunately was not kind, and said you must show ID for we can do anything.. that is understandable, but since we had already checked in my ID was in the room.. a few hours later we came down and requested more towels for the room, the response I got from her was similar to a teenager with the eye roll and the discuss for the request, she said what room are you in because we need to keep account of your towels...Really!! Is there a towel thief?..This woman treats Veterans and Government employees with a bias and rejection my report of this place is on the way.. all military and government employees I would suggest to stay away... Otherwise I would have given it a four star

The staff were amazing!! The room itself was pretty outdated. I had a non smoking room and it smelled musty and like it used to be a smoking room. I woke up with a cough because my lungs were so irritated. The breakfast buffet was nice and even though they were out of eggs the staff was willing to make me fresh. The hot tub was still down but I wouldn't have had time to use it anyway.
