Beautiful lake with surprisingly clear water. Lots of quiet spots to rest right next to the water and plenty of nice small streams. Road up to the actual trailhead is covered in snow so everyone parks on the wildlife road intersection. Recommend bringing some snow-compatible gear since you're almost guaranteed to walk on deep snow. There are public restrooms but they were locked. Very limited trash service so pack-in-pack-out.

Fun moonlight snowshoe trip around the pond. The trail was compacted from the many people traveling this family friendly trail. There was a group of people that decided to go out to the middle of the pond, which I do not recommend. You can do the trail without snowshoes but I do recommend some traction device because some areas are a little slick but you can do it without any.

A lovely, magical snowshoe through trees heavy with snow. Busy but not crowded midweek. Not steep, not far to the beautiful pond. You can continue through the houses and up the Gold Creek trail, but you need snowshoes for that, for sure. As of 12/29/21, though: BEWARE! The road is NOT plowed, even to the snopark. On the way out we watched the slow train wreck of two different Subarus getting stuck and helped them get out. It took most of the 4-lo on our Tahoe to get back to the freeway. Also beware that one of the two porta potties is zip tied closed and the other should be. You are NOT using those latrines. No, ladies, hovering will not do it, that thing is disgusting, you'd be better if with your Peebella behind a tree. Still, it was a lovely day.

Nice and easy loop trail. If you want to avoid the crowd come early. You must purchase a sno-park permit to park near the park. There’s a loop trail around the lake as well as the Gold Creek Trail that goes further into the woods but no lake views. Not much elevation gain. Lake was frozen so we were able to walk on the lake. Must be beautiful in the summer as well.
