There are aspects of this place that bring people closer to God. However, the mixing of politics and Jesus sometimes here shows that there is occasionally an embrace of the affairs of this world rather than the affairs of the Kingdom of God. Those who seek to support politicians and worldy agendas before the Kingdom of God are missing the point. One need only read scriptures to see that Jesus, the apostles and early believers focused on God, not the politics of the day. Early on the disciples did want to make Jesus their king and overthrow Rome but -- as they matured -- they understood that Jesus was much bigger than that. His kingdom has no end.
