If you are a Veteran in need, then MSHV is a great option for you. They offer a ton of services including temporary housing, help finding long term housing, clothing, household needs (toiletry/cleaning supplies) as well as a bunch of other help that you can find on their site. If what you need is not something they provide then they can point you in the right direction. They are very well connected to different organizations that are focused on helping Veterans. I learned about this charity over 6 years ago and have had dozens of encounters with them. Both as a Veteran seeking help and as a volunteer. Each and every time I have worked with them has been great. I normally do not review businesses but felt compelled to after reading a couple of reviews. People (especially Veterans) are reluctant to seek help because many of us were taught that it shows weakness (which is BS).That tough guy stigma needs to change. I do not want anyone who needs help to be deterred from getting that help because of a petty fictional review.

This place is getting much worse, even 10 yrs ago it was horrible, its run by alot of wome who just sit in their office and do nothing all day! I challege anyone to try and call and get a live person there. I been told that they dont give out gift cards anymore. One time I had to sign a paper as a receipt showing I had received a certain amout of giftcards, but when I went tu use a 50.00 giftcard it only had 29.00 on it! I swear ever since I been going there, I get a sence that Im being cheated somehow. Im positive that there is no accountability there. At the VA they have whats called a patient advocate dept where Vets can complain about being treated bad. That dept actually takes care and follows through with helping Vets, this MSHV has no where to complain and these women have gone unchecked for years now! I stayed in the actual shelter once and I ended up leaving bc they treat Vets extreamly horrible there! I actually went back to the streets then to be bullied by the staff there! People know whats going on there but either people are powerless to help or these people are in fact themselves the higher ups and just will not change the status quote bc their the ones ripping off the system. Im more than fair and want to give good reviews for agencies that help my fellow Vets but this place has always been horrible and hasnt changed. Im Thankful for any assistance I can get from anywhere but when I see these lazy women ripping off Veterans I have to say something! These women have been getting away with ripping off Veterans simply bc their women and people are quick to look the other way, and these people writing these positive reviews must have an interest some kind of way for them writing these positive reviews. I shutter at the thought of the donation the Chicago Bears made and how that 500,000 was actually spent! The Chicago Bears actually paid for the staff there to go and enjoy a free day at a game for these lazy women! I cant belive Im lowering myself to this level talking about these women who have been steeling from Veterans. One woman that works there named Dana told me the rest of the women treat her bad (Office Politics) and that they didnt sit with her at the free day at the Bears game! That Dana person however is just as bad as the rest of them! This is just an example of the type of people who work there!

Caring people make all the difference. We could make a difference. When a hand reaches out for help. It would be fantastic if there were always a.compassinate hand to hold on to. We all can make the difference. If only opened up our hearts.
