In August of 2016 my parents lost their house in Lower Lake, CA and all of their possessions in the Clayton fire. During the following two years we were very impressed with the support and payments we received from their insurance company, Foremost. However, although we made a detailed list of the lost personal property as best we could, the actual compensation from the insurance is based on the depreciated value of the items. How these values are arrived at is not easy to understand or dispute. On November 2017, I had a water loss at my home. That day it rained a lot and water got into my home. When I filed a claim, my insurance company denied the coverage. You need to review the Dec Page of your policy. This gives you specific details as to what kind of coverage your policy has. By law, the adjuster should truthfully respond to your inquiry about code coverage. You should also request this information by email to document your question.
