Nice Amtrak station, clean bathrooms, attendants are present and helpful. Nice train to take to Chicago or come from Pontiac for a day trip to Ann Arbor. Uber service is good in Ann Arbor and they have many good restaurants nearby while you wait β π

For a small train station is guess itβs good. Always crowded because of the university but never an issue getting on or off the train. Whether the Amtrak is on time is another story.

No communication from the station, trains always late 5-10 minutes acceptable 45 minutes late not acceptable especially when no one wants to even alert you. Lousy terminal customer service. Last time I chose Amtrak scenic ride doesnβt compete with lousy customer service and delays.

Yes free parking
Many cars park there not Locked or monitoring, but it's has posted notices
Some spots have parking meters. Others do not.
Not sure how far but you can always get a lyft or Uber. There are taxi's but not always waiting when you get off train like there are at other stations.
I don't know, from what I have read, she can travel alone without restrictions (such as a Parent or Attendant) More details are in the link below about the unaccompanied minors policy ( https://www.amtrak.com/unaccompanied-minors-policy#:~:text=To%20make%20reservations%20for%20unaccompanied,800%2D872%2D7245).&text=Children%2013%2C%2014%20and%2015,permitted%20only%20on%20Amtrak%20trains. ) Hope this helped!
Yes you make a connection in Chicago.
Less than 5 minutes
I haven't heard that there was, but if you call Amtrack, I'm positive you'll receive better information
Yes, just make sure to inform the staff so they can keep an eye on your car & so you do not get ticketed.
After some research, yes the train will stop at NBU (New Buffalo, Michigan) before arriving in Chicago. Heres a maps link: https://goo.gl/maps/qB4tP5s5WqHZLUwz5
Thanks for the reply, but I finally found the info on the station's Amtrak website. They definitely do NOT accept checked baggage.
15 minutes is more than enough. No security or anything to go through. They just announced boarding, people line up and get on the train.
It really depends on the freight trains using the same tracks. Most of time they are within 15 to 30 minutes of scheduled times.
Ask inside the station. I think parking is paid and not free.
I'm not sure what the discount is, but yes, there's an active military discount. You can select it when booking on Amtrak's website. At larger stations where there is a "priority boarding" queue I also believe you qualify for that.
There is drop off parking directly adjacent to the station and tracks. For long-term parking, there is a lot across the tracks. A Google Maps search for Amtrak long-term parking Ann Arbor, MI provides a good map. You should contact the station for details on cost and availability.
Departing from the station you go southeast on Depot, take a right onto Carey St, then a sharp right onto N. Division. This turns into Broadway and the lot is on the left.
Yes, Amtrak in Ann Arbor does have a ramp so that people who use mobility equipment can access the train. They also provide something that bridges the gap between the platform and the train.
