My bartending company was recently hired to serve Beer, Wine and Soda at a Wedding and Reception Party held at Waldo's Secret Garden in Vero Beach Fl. I was intrigued by the name immediately .During a conversation with the bride she mentioned that Waldo's Secret Garden was like a Outdoor Pavilion/ Barn type setting. Having 20+ years of catering service & catered 100's of events I assumed this venue would be as she had described it. From the moment I pulled on to their property, a friendly gentleman welcomed me to Waldo's and told me where I could park. After gathering my equipment I headed towards the patio , gathering area.As I'm walking on the brink sidewalk I am awestruck by the beautiful & uniqueness of this place. Every direction you looked there was a sitting area with a different theme or design. It was like time revisiting my childhood and all the great memories associated with it. I was born and raised on a farm in Florida and fully appreciate the time and dedication of this 106 year old historic homestead. This place is absolutely a labor of love, dedication and family values. You could spend hours walking around and not see all the detail and beauty this property has. Unfortunately I was unable to look around because I was bartending and it was pitch black outside. I live on the West Coast but we have alot of events of the East Coast. So , I can not wait to go back. The owners Hildie & Mark Sexton are like their property.... One of a kind !!!!! I swear 5 minutes in to our first conversation I felt like and ole friend. After the event was over the following day I went on their website to read the history intertwined with the property. I read all their reviews just to make sure l wasnt losing my mind. 99% were in total awe and very impressed with the property and the Professional that the Sexton's uphold. Yet there's always a couple bad apples in the group complaining about some of the house rules. For example, the complaint was angry the music had to end at 10:00 p.m.. Indian County has a 10:00 p.m. Noise Ordinance that they vigorously enforce. His other complaint was " No Shot " rule and that Hildie was trying to Micromanage the event. Having never meant Hildie and Mark I can Honestly with 100% certainty say that they DO NOT Micromanage, they walk around offering a hand or checking to see if you need anything. They care about each and everyone one of their guests. They care enough that they want you to make it home safely. Myself being a bartender, boyfriend, son and father I feel exactly the same way. I can only wish that All these events we staff that the Owners of the Venue showed the same compassion and concern. I hope to see Hildie & Mark again. But if I don't I had to respond to the unfair ,baseless , criticism directed toward the Sexton. If you are in the Vero Beach area swing by their property. You will soon see for yourself that they are as genuine and pure as the Gorgeous Waldo's Secret Garden property they hold so never and dear to their hearts.
