Pretty disappointing the range is closed this summer. What are the "logistics" that have to be worked out????? More money? then charge more than $10.

Always a great experience. The facility is very well maintained. It’s wonderful to have it available for public use and greatly appreciated. The fee is very reasonable and the check-in and range officers are always helpful and friendly. Can hardly wait for it reopening for the spring!

Every time I go, it's always great experience. Intake officers and range officers are always friendly and informative about the range and the rules. I would love an opportunity to shoot at a greater distance for accuracy and sport.Thank you for coming out Langeston!

Questions & Answers

I am totally new to shooting. Can I go there rent a gun and practice shooting? Also how much would it cost for the 15 yard range?

Bastin Joseph | Jun 29, 2021
Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center (Owner) | Jun 30, 2021

Hi Joseph. Thank you for the question. We do not rent or sell equipment and we do not offer classes or instruction. We simply have a safe place for people to shoot. The cost is $10 per shooter regardless of which range you use.

For experienced shooters looking to do on the move shooting, is there a separate range area to do such?

Does the rifle range have benches to shoot from?

Max Stevenson | Oct 27, 2021
Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center (Owner) | Oct 28, 2021

Yes, Max, we have picnic tables so you have a place to sit and a place to rest your gun. Thank you for asking.

Is this first come, first serve? Do I bring targets? Is handgun shooting training available?

Ted McKenna | Oct 27, 2021
Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center (Owner) | Oct 28, 2021

Hi Ted, Thank you for the questions. The range is first come, first served however, you can shoot at the same time as long as you are all at the same yard line. If you want to shoot at a distance different from where the rest of the shooters are shooting at, you would have to wait until they are done. We provide foam target backers and nails to post targets but, we do not provide targets. We do not provide any training.

Can you shoot .308 here?

It should be sometime in April.

Anyone know if this is still open this time of year in 2019?

Samuel Park | Feb 25, 2020
Dane County Law Enforcement Training Center (Owner) | Feb 26, 2020

Yes Samuel, we are open for 2 more weekends. October 19 and 20 and the last weekend will be October 26 and 27. After that we will open for our Hunters sight in clinic which runs from November 9-22, 2019. During the clinic we are open every day from 8:30am-3:30pm for you to work one on one with our staff to sight in any weapon that is legal for deer hunting. There is no open shooting during that time, just sight in. We will close for the year on November 22, 2019.

Is it only a 100 and a 15 yard range or is there anything like 500+?

Penis Van Lesbian | Feb 25, 2020
Auric Gold | Feb 26, 2020

Pistol range probably goes to 30 yards and the rifle range is 100. The nearest range that has the distance you seek is the Winnequah Gun Club near Lodi which has a 1200 yard range.

Joanna Stokes | Feb 25, 2018
