I am new to WHA as a patient and I am a physician. I am trying to navigate care and have found the customer service to be impersonal and ineffective. I find that such customer service is common in a company that provides limited resources. Representatives are often poorly responsive and disengaged when they feel they cannot effectively help. This concerns me about WHA.

I have had bad experiences with WHA since the time I enrolled. I was referred to an E#NT Dr. by my Primary care Dr. They wrote me a letter stating I would have to pay for that visit as they claim I had no referral. Now I had a hearing test. I need a hearing aid, but WHA Rep. told me I have to wait until it is approved and then they will send me a list of places I'm approved to get the hearing aide. However, in the meantime my clarity to hear is steadily deteriorating as I wait on my WHA plan. It's a blessing I have not had to go to the Dr. regularly or I feel I would be in deep stuff!! I could go on and on, needless to say why I rated this Insurance Co.LOW.

Apparently not! My adult daughter is on vacation in Oklahoma and needs to be seen somewhere before she returns to California next month. (I think she may have a bladder infection). When she called WHA to see where she can go in Oklahoma she was told she wouldn't be covered because she's been away from home too long....WTH?!!

They offer HMO plans.
WHA is an HMO that serves NorCal and some bay area. LA is considered out-of-area, so he is covered for urgent/emergent services only. A PPO might be a better option for him.
