In March I had cervical surgery done by Dr. Ravi Ramachandran. He is to me a surgeon with golden hands and I would highly recommend him for any need you have regarding the spine. He's kind, caring and articulate explaining things and I never felt that he was rushing. The staff were also efficient and knowledgeable . I had a great outcome and if I have any further problems this would be my Doctor.

After suffering for many years from pain resulting from spinal stenosis in the lumbar region, I finally asked my primary care physician if back surgery might be an option. I was fortunate to be referred to Dr. Ravi Ramachandran who practices in Folsom, California. On my first visit to Dr. Ravi’s clinic, he went over my most recent MRI, identified with clarity the cause and source of my pain, and outlined his recommended surgical approach i.e., in my case, lumbar laminectomy with L4-L5 fusion. Dr. Ravi indicated that after surgery and a recovery period I could expect substantial relief with minimal risk from the procedure which he discussed in detail. After many questions I said I wanted to proceed. Dr. Ravi’s able staff quickly scheduled surgery both at a time and place that was convenient to me. Although I only had to spend one night in the hospital after surgery, Dr. Ravi was clear that complete recovery could take up to six months. So, I was surprised to experience substantial relief from pain and numbness and increased strength in the affected area, my lower back and left leg, after just a few weeks. A brief reference check will show that Dr. Ravi is an extremely well educated, experienced and well-regarded surgeon but I also appreciate how he contacted my wife right after the procedure to let her know that things went well and how both he and his staff have been available and supportive during the post-surgical period. I am happy to recommend Dr. Ramachandran to anyone suffering from back issues that would benefit from his surgical skills.

Went to see him for a summary of an MRI I had on my neck. Very disappointed. Sat in his exam room for 45 minutes....... waiting. Finally decided to leave the room to find someone only to see that he's having fun talking with one of his office people. I can only assume that he forgot he had a patient waiting. The review of the MRI was very mediocre at best. He had a photo from the MRI but didn't go into any detail explaining what we were looking at. He just stated that my neck wasn't "that bad". Based on my experience, I wouldn't recommend.

Based on the review and feedback that I saw in the internet, I decided to go and see the Dr. Ravi for my back pain. When I called his office, his receptionists were pretty mean and unprofessional. I thought someone with such a great reputation would have a better staff in his office ! At the end, I changed my mind and saw a different doctor !
