Snakes scared us a little. The gator was right off the boardwalk! The spiders were huge!

Definitely worth a visit. We saw two alligators napping alongside the boardwalk. The vistas of the swamps are worth the trip as well. Not all that far a drive from the French Quarter. Very friendly and helpful staff.

We camped there for $30 a night. I think the day pass was $5

Do you need a car once in the park? I was planning on taking a Lyft out for the day.

There are a few walking trails within a short proximity, but Lyft and Uber may not be available for the return trip.

Would you feel safe bringing young children here or is it better to wait? I'm thinking specifically about gators.
