Attorney Lauren Higgins is an absolute outstanding professional. We worked together for the majority of my case, and I feel that she was always available and reasonable during a very stressful time. Lauren always reassured me that the decisions that I was making were either on the mark or needed to be changed. She saw me through a really stressful time and for that I will always be grateful.

I did consultations with three different lawyers and I didn't feel as welcomed and confident as I did with Gregory Allen. Attorney Gregory Allen is meticulous, and sophisticatedly methodical in his profession. He is an experienced attorney and fights indefatigably on behalf of his clients. He's quick witted and knowledgeable regarding various sides of the law. He and his staff were very well prepared and educated on my situation, and I could not have found a more competent law team to handle my situation.Gregory Allen does get back to you in a timely manner unlike others waiting. They send you many remainders for your court date as well and they call you days before to make sure your all set to go and if they need anything to bring or to send them. They also don't hound you for their money which is very nice because it does accumulate quickly so if you just keep making payments your golden. There's nothing hes beenwith me since day one and fights for me terrifically.

Seems like a decent law firm but it wasn’t the right fit for me. I worked with Alissa Korwek for 2 months and she literally did NOTHING for my case- she didn’t even inform the courts that she was representing me. She was supposed to refile paperwork for me and never did. I decided to no longer retain her after numerous unreturned phone calls and emails. I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt since she’s a novice attorney. If you decide to use this firm, work with anyone but her.

Unless your opposition is without counsel, I recommend anyone but Greg Allen. Throughout my case he has delayed filing, sent paralegals in his place in court who underrepresented myself and my daughter, was completely unresponsive 90 percent of the time, and when pressed for answers about my case with pending motions filed, I got 0 help and he dropped me as a client because it was easier than doing the job he was paid for. I was never in contact when he was to be out of office for weeks at a time, I went weeks with multiple emails unanswered, and I recommend anyone but him for custody cases. Edit to owner: If Alyssa is a lawyer then that’s laughable. You waited weeks to file, didn’t inform me when things were filed, I went weeks and multiple emails without response and when I asked you why, you said you were tired of defending your decisions, yet I never even got any decisions because you wouldn’t respond. Again, I recommend anyone thinking of using this attorney do a lot of shopping before he takes your money and wastes 7 months of you and your family’s time.

Questions & Answers

Why Do I Need A Real Estate Attorney?

Robert Henzon Llarves | Sep 28, 2019

Some states require attorneys be involved in the selling and purchasing of real estate. However, even if one is not required, it is a good idea to work with an attorney during a real estate transaction because transactions can be fraught with unexpected occurrences. For instance, there can be contractual issues that need the oversight ofa legal professional. If you and your agent are concerned about a specific issue, it is best to work with a real estate attorney. For example, there may be a tenant on your new property or you might be considering renting some or all of the property during a certain time period. Some properties have tax liens imposed on them and you do not know what the implications might be. The bottom line? Real estate attorneys offer invaluable help.

Why Do I Need Title Insurance?

Robert Henzon Llarves | Sep 28, 2019
Law Offices of Gregory Allen P.C. | Sep 28, 2019

Title insurance protects a buyer’s investment in a property if any right to ownership is challenged. Because the majority of homeowners require mortgages to purchase homes, lending title insurance is often required by the bank to protect its investment. A number of issues can affect the title of a home, including fraud or forged documents or false representation of ownership of a property. Most of the events that arise and cause problems with a property’s title typically happen before you purchased the property, but a good title insurance policy provides coverage for the consequences of those events. It is possible your ownership of the property can be affected if there is a problem with the title.

If one parent moves out and leaves the kids with the other parent, does it hurt the moving parent’s chances of getting custody at a later date?

Robert Henzon Llarves | Sep 28, 2019
Law Offices of Gregory Allen P.C. | Sep 28, 2019

It can. Parents that move out before a custody arrangement is finalized run the risk of the other parent deciding the custody arrangement. This is because the parent that remains behind makes determinations about the child’s time. If it is necessary to leave the marital home and leave your child behind, it is important to know your rights and have a plan in place. If possible, have an attorney help you create a plan before leaving.

How do courts determine who gets custody of children in a divorce?

Robert Henzon Llarves | Sep 28, 2019
Law Offices of Gregory Allen P.C. | Sep 28, 2019

Courts make determinations about custody issues based on what is in the best interest of the child. Courts also look at the mental health and stability of each parent, the living situation of each parent, each parent’s ability to care for the child, and the relationship the child has with each parent. In some cases, the desires of the child are also considered. The goal of the court is to keep the child’s life as consistent as possible post-divorce.

What is the difference between legal separation and divorce?

Robert Henzon Llarves | Sep 28, 2019
Law Offices of Gregory Allen P.C. | Sep 28, 2019

Both a legal separation and divorce can resolve legal issues, such as how to divide property, determining who can continue to live in the marital home, parenting time allocation and child support. In a legal separation, the parties must agree about how to divide their assets and liabilities while they do not have to be in a divorce. The court order for divorce or legal separation is an enforceable court order. However, a divorce permanently ends a marriage while a legal separation does not. Spouses who are legally separated cannot marry someone else while former spouses who are divorced can. Getting a legal separation does not prevent either spouse from later filing for divorce.

How do the Legal Considerations Differ from the Business Considerations in Negotiating the Purchase of Commercial Real Estate?

Robert Henzon Llarves | Sep 28, 2019
Law Offices of Gregory Allen P.C. | Sep 28, 2019

Business considerations often center upon the use and potential profitability of a particular property. Legal considerations deal with possible issues of liability, title issues, environmental factors and other issues that may create legal problems for the purchaser. Due diligence is particularly important to avoid these potential problems.
