I love the cakes! But recently my experience was not a good one. I wanted to get a birthday cake for my fiance and was told I can only get a premade cake according to how late it was in the week and that was fine, so I went to the store to pick one out and was told they couldn't personalize one with the words ' Happy Birthday' until the next day. So that was fine. I went to pick it up the next day and bring it to our family gathering but when we got it out of the box, it was not the cake I picked the day before. I was disappointed as we specifically wanted chocolate on chocolate cake which is the cake I picked. It happens I suppose. But the service was very pushy and cold, not friendly like you would expect for a bakery. So I give it one thumb up. I mostly would have liked a more happy to help service. It was not that much happy to help.

In town for a day or so and asked around for the best donut. Rykes was the recommendation. Made my way over at 8:30 on a Wednesday morning. Sign on the wall said “buy two, get one free donuts.” So I said, why not! Was told that the board hadn’t been erased and that was yesterdays special. The nice young lady behind the counter proceeded to wipe the board clean and then asked what I’d like. No specials today because they weren’t as slow as yesterday. It just felt odd to me. How about honoring a special and then erasing the board? Anyhow, I ordered two donuts (anyway) and after eating them, I’m pretty sure they were from yesterday too. The icing was discolored (bloomed) and kind of dense. The flavor was ok. I guess I had higher expectations, and on that day, those expectations were not met. Meh. That’s my take.
