Mary and Edward Harkness did and I think it was built bf WWI. They were really good people. Edward was related to oil tycoon Rockefeller, and used his inherited money to buy the mansion garden and what was farm land. When they passed they gave the area to the state, so citizens could enjoy it in the 1950s. I love this park it is my favorite. Visited since i was a baby, but never been inside, just the courtyards. I always peek in though!
