These folks, to the best of my limited knowledge, make some of the best custom homes and structures available to the public that are designed from the ground up to be as efficient as possible and as resistant as possible to high winds and wind driven objects. A lot of thought and detail goes into every home they design and they appear willing to custom adapt to whatever their client (sensibly) asks for. We were given the grand tour by Dallam Hart who was extremely friendly and accomodating and a fountain of useful information. However, the most impressive thing to me was this company can supply all its clients with custom built homes with a surprisingly small staff and relatively small, self-sustaining facility with not too much automation, which speaks volumes as to efficiency. Later, with my family we visited their two model homes about 45 minutes drive away at Mars Hill and were shown around by David who was another great source of information. The world's weather patterns have changed and, I would imagine, are going to continue to become more and more extreme. It is tantamount to throwing good money after bad to continue building the same outdated style of structure which hurricanes and tornadoes can destroy in seconds - especially living in the Southeast US. FL insurance companies are struggling and even going out of business trying to take care of the huge numbers of claims after a devastating hurricane or tornado has gone through a heavily populated area. These circular homes have proven time after time they are far more able to survive if built correctly and according to sound local building codes

I put down my deposit for a Deltec home (360 series) in April to have it ready by next spring to build. I have built homes before and I am also a licensed general contractor. To get a permit in my area of Colorado, you need to have an engineer stamp your plans for the foundation and the roof truss layout. When put down my deposit I was told that Deltec has engineers on staff to assist with getting the minimum requirements for permitting. This couldn't be further from the truth. Deltec without informing me of an additional cost (above my deposit) had to get an engineer to assist with the roof truss requirements and i had to hire my own structural engineer for the foundation. How do you not have an engineer on staff to stamp your own roof trusses? It was just a standard model. Then when i put my project on hold, they email me a bill out of the blue for $2,588 for engineering services! i wasn't informed of a cost for them to do this, nor was i told a price. I would have canceled my project on the spot. Then I was told I can delay the project and they wont charge me until i move forward. To me this seems like a tactic to keep people in the que. Take my advice- just build a custom home. You will save money.

The average cost is $200-275 per square foot
It really depends on where you're building, finishes, etc. Usually they end up being $200-275/square foot, but give us a call & we'll be glad to give you a quote: 828.253.0483
Depends on shape, # stories, etc. How much does a 4-passenger car cost? Depends on Kia or BMW! ;-)
