Getting down to the reservoir can be tricky, and there is a fair amount of poison ivy. But being out on that amazing body of water watching the herons and osprey is amazing.

Can you launch a kayak here?

Nope. But you can get a fishing boat from someone that has a permit(go on Craigslist or fb marketplace) and get it registered at the dep. theyll steam clean the boat and you’re allowed to use it only on the croton reservoir(because of the hydrilla infestation that weve so far managed to prevent from getting into the hudson)

Is there a parking?

Based on the following, the answer is no. Expanded Recreational Boating Program NYC DEP allows non-motorized recreational boating with canoes, kayaks, sailboats, and skulls on a day use basis on Cannonsville, Neversink, Pepacton and Schoharie Reservoirs. Recreational boating season currently opens on May 1st and runs through October 31st. To improve access for visitors, several local businesses near the reservoirs rent kayaks and canoes for day use. Information about the recreational boating program can be found by visiting www.nyc.gov/dep/recreation.
