The town care so little for their own history that they didn't care to protect their own personal history. P.T. Barnum exhibit can hit in a one room. This is a stone building the tornado was incapable of ripping it apart but they blame a tornado for loses instead of what it was improper care and no protection.

I haven't been there but, I love the movie, The Greatest Shownman and the book, Who was P.T Barnum. I just know we are gonna go there one day!!! I've watched the movie MILLIONS OF TIMES, I just love it.

Fun to visit and take shots of the exterior but ever since a storm many, many years ago, it has yet to reopen. I wonder if there will ever be a day that it does. Very sad.

Good Morning Dr. Heck, thank you so much for reaching out to the Barnum! What a fascinating trip you are planning. The Museum is about to begin a huge exterior historic restoration in June. This project has been in its architectural drawing and design phase for over a year, and we're finally able to start construction this summer. As exciting it is to finally have this work beginning, I'm always sorry to say that the Museum will not be fully open until all disaster recovery work is complete. We have been dedicated to our YouTube channel to remain connected to our audiences: https://www.youtube.com/c/BarnumMuseum/videos FYI - The Barnum is actually a good 2-3 hours through NY/NJ traffic from Penn. There are absolutely amazing places to stop in between, and there are wonderful places in Connecticut to visit - Mark Twain House/Harriet Beecher Stowe site, Gillet Castle, and Mystic Seaport. A wonderful and safe upcoming holiday to you! My thanks again, Kathy
Basically everything. The museum is not crazy big. It's quite quant
They had to open across the street temporarily. Its ok but it's very small so if your coming from a far distance, and just to go there, its not worth it.
The historical building is closed due to storm damage that happened in 2010. The People's Bank Gallery behind it is open to the public on Thursdays and Fridays from 11am to 3pm for those who would like a tour and to see the collection that is on display.
