It’s extremely durable, you can send marble everywhere worldwide in construction sites, monuments etc… Akropolis in Greece was built in the 5th century BC and still holds perfectly as one of the most incredible structures ever built So to answer your question, marble is not only durable but also very easy to maintain, besides the fact that is clean, natural and easily fixable if any concern appears in the future.
If you drop a little bit of water and it changes color, YES, but it should not be a reason to be concerned because the moisture will go away. In case of stain do to a lack of sealer, you can always remove it with some techniques, no big deal!
