Dr. Handel is exceptionally knowledgeable - University of Michigan Medical School, M.G.H. Residency, Brown Medical School Faculty - and is decended from a family of physicians. Medicine is in his blood... 🩸 I am a former football player, powerlifter and mountaineer. My medical profile includes, paresthesia of the left arm due to sustained neck trauma (🏈), painful sensory neuropathy, failed spinal fusion, cervical and lumbar disk-disease, severe bi-lateral end-stage knee O.A. and both elbows need replacing from weight-lifting overuse injury. Bed-ridden. 🛌 He accepted accepted me as a patient - and my insurance, and was the most thorough doctor I have been treated by to date. His specialities are trigger point injections using steroids/narcotics which for many, improve their functionality and Q.O.L., and is the primary course of treatment. 💉 If you are not a candidate for injections, he will use other state of the art treatments, including a whole arsenal of medications with which he is very familiar. 💊 Patients are seen on time, tests are completed promptly, medications are refilled immediately - and calls are returned daily, if needed. 🕛 Do you need more...? He is a physician in a PRIVATE PRACTICE - there are incredible demands placed on these doctors by regulatory agencies, but he is still a strong patient advocate. 👫 He's in the office until 12:00 A.M. some nights, loves his work, and, actually does prior authorizations, which are a pain, and nowadays, fall by the wayside. He has a colorful personality, is intense, and he will test you - expecting patient compliance and accountability. His practice is his baby. 🍼 His assistant - M. Cobb, P.A. - is every bit as capable, and has extensive neurological training. He is dedicated, compassionate and competent, and sat with me for ONE HOUR when inurance only reimburses for 15 minutes. He LISTENS, very, astutely, and provides ample one on one with his patients. 🤝 The office staff is professional and friendly. No attitudes. 🧐 Finally; My P.C.P. was retiring and my care was sub-standard. My health was deteriorating and I could not find a P.C.P. soon enough to address my urgent medical needs. In ONE DAY I was in a specialist's office, who was no longer accepting new patients, because he had made a call. ☎️ And, he called to apologize for getting upset with me the day before, for not taking better care of myself. But that was fine, because not only had I been lectured by coaches my entire life - most importantly, it showed he is a kind and moral man who takes his Hippocratic Oath very, very, seriously... 🩺 P.S.; Unfortunately, he is a pastry lover - which HIS physician advised him not to eat. 🍰 (Oh, no...! 🤭)
