Surf City BBQ brings North Carolina BBQ to the area, something previously missing and very welcome. The food is good, and the service is friendly. All of the side dishes and, especially the hush puppies are delish! I look forward to getting NC BBQ pork when we visit. Keep in mind this is NC style (vinegar based) pork. On our most recent visit, my husband got the blackened pork tips - a unique order for him. They were so good and something a bit different. My teen likes the ribs. The Brunswick stew is yummy, and another item I look forward to. At our most recent visit, the oven was broken, eliminating three menu items from availability. Our server, Dee, was so apologetic and then helped my 10yo find something else since her original selection was not available. Dee was so friendly and patient as we re-evaluated the menu. She kept our drinks full, was knowledgeable about menu questions and seemed genuinely happy to serve our table and provide a welcoming, pleasant experience.

This place is very welcoming and comfortable! Not to mention the food is filling and well priced! I was honestly very pleasantly surprised when we got a little tray of hush puppies to get us started! Everyone was very friendly, and our waitress Dee was even moreso, making our short stay very enjoyable!

My husband and I had the most amazing experience tonight at Surf City Barbeque!! Our server, Steven, was very polite and respectful. We were immediately served delicious hot homemade hush puppies. After taking our order, Steven brought out our piping hot shrimp and flounder in less than ten minutes❣️❣️ It was delicious❣️❣️❣️It’s quite difficult for most businesses to keep employees nowadays, so having a server who shows so much respect and politeness to their guests, is quite an added bonus❣️❣️❣️ Steven, there’s no doubt in my mind your parents raised you well!! Thank you for being so attentive and and polite to us! We are very appreciative of your excellent service❣️❣️ Also, I can’t submit this without mentioning the owners, Guy and Rebecca Royal. This couple is an awesome Christian couple, indeed❣️❣️They show their employees and guests so much respect. As inflation keeps rising, I couldn’t help but notice their menu prices have not risen. I’m sure they are trying extremely hard to keep their prices down and affordable! We need to patronize this business as much as possible as their God fearing owners are working so intensely trying to keep a pleasant affordable restaurant experience, excellent service and their food always delicious for us all.

Absolutely bodacious! The service was top notch. The food was great. Typical (Carolina) BBQ with the usually fixings, like baked beans, slaw, mashed potatoes, etc. Christian themed, for the believers. But, not overwhelming, for non believers. What was special about this one is the service. Jenny, my waitress, was more than excellent. She waited on me with professionalism in mind. Ordering was easy. She checked on me at appropriate times, never avoided nor bothersome. Here is the reason why I think Jenny went above and beyond. I am missing a few and have bad teeth. Thus making it difficult to eat some hard foods. The dinner I order had a flatbread, usually kinda hard. When the food came, the flatbread was there. But, there were also hush puppies on the plate. I can only assume she noticed my teeth, or lack of, and gave me hush puppies also.
