Kid friendly place. The museum is very interactive and fun to visit on a winter day. The animals on the farm are a delight for the kids.

Does the playground close at 5 too?

Hello! Barring any weather concerns, the playground closes when Heckscher Farm closes. For most of the year, that time is 5:00 pm, but we move to a 4:30 pm closing on November 7th this year, along with daylight savings.

No additional cost. It is covered by the usual gate fee. ($10 for adults, $8 for seniors, $5 for kids, free for members)

Chances are it is a harmless snake. If it does have the yellow ring around its neck it is a ringneck snake. They are not poisonous so you can just pick it up and put him near your compost pile. Odds are whatever you have down there is innocous but without a picture or further details it's hard to help.
