Hello! Barring any weather concerns, the playground closes when Heckscher Farm closes. For most of the year, that time is 5:00 pm, but we move to a 4:30 pm closing on November 7th this year, along with daylight savings.

It was the weekend of January 27/28, so unfortunately you've missed it this year. You can sign up for email notifications on their website to find out in advance of their exhibit changes.
Chances are it is a harmless snake. If it does have the yellow ring around its neck it is a ringneck snake. They are not poisonous so you can just pick it up and put him near your compost pile. Odds are whatever you have down there is innocous but without a picture or further details it's hard to help.
