Beautiful area! And the trail is really cool! Fairly short and fairly difficult, mostly a dirt path but you crawl down some real rocky parts that are fairly steep but doable. Takes you along the water up to an old mineshaft- this was so cool to see and FEEL! It was so cold even walking up to the mineshaft, and absolutely freezing right inside it! The trail keeps going past the mineshaft up a VERY steep, loose-gravel hill with not much to grab on to so we turned around- we were too tired from other hikes. Still such a cool hike though! But WARNING- the reviews about spiderwebs are true. We were literally stopping every few feet to wave down a web and still walked through a handful of them. Also ran into a copperhead so be aware! No cell service in the area Visited October 21

Very peaceful campground...the camp host are super nice people. No dump station or water hookups but still a great place to camp.

There's none right on the river some are close by tho. Only electric sites are on south side of the river. Here's website link for park info and reservation info https://www.recreation.gov/camping/campgrounds/232392
Because you are outside in nature where you shouldn't have to. Chances are what you are seeing "trashing" the campgrounds are locals. Of all the years we've camped anywhere it was always locals - FYI we live in a small town so we know how it is.
Nope. I don't know of any until you get down to Sam Baker.
I believe it's $10/nite. The host is at the Riverside campground but they do laps in their cart to collect fees and check sites.
Depends on where you are coming from. Silver Mines Campground is NOT flooded, but I believe some roads in Missouri and Illinois, especially near the Mississippi River are closed due to flooding. I'd check for Missouri road closures if you think it might be an issue on your route.
I am not 100% certain if pets are allowed but I did not see a "no pets allowed" sign up
Several Vault bathrooms a short walk away for most camp sites. No showers in this park
They were working on it last year
Lot of bass and catfish
