I am truly sorry for the lateness in posting this review since Sept. 1. I have been dealing with a lot since moving from GA in late August. This was one of the main reasons I was grateful that the driver’s license process was the best I I had ever experienced at a DMV. The tax collector who worked with me was absolutely amazing..he was knowledgeable, personable, and kind. I had the correct paperwork which helped things run smoothly as well. So, I hope this review will encourage others to visit this DMV branch.

Things started out a little rough at first but when it was finally my turn Mrs Karen and Whitney made sure I was taken care of no matter what. I usually don’t leave reviews but these two ladies deserve a shout out for all the hard work they put in so with that said I’ll be back to Roosevelt Tax Collectors office

This is what I found:
In Florida, yes you can. If you have a valid EAD, you should be able to get a social security card from the Social Security Administration (SSA) that states, valid with work authorization only. With that blue card, your valid EAD, and 2 proofs of residential address you should be able to get a Florida Drivers license or ID card. You will of course also need to pass all of the associated tests at the DMV.
Can I get a physical copy of a Commercial Driver's License Manual here? To study for CDL Class A, B, and C plus endorsements.
The Roosevelt branch has one hard copy left at the time of writing this.

If I have my permit for a year but it’s from Georgia and I moved here can I still get my license or do I have to start over and get a Florida permit

You can still get your license as long as you've had your permit for a year. You'll need to take a driving test, which is only offered at our Gateway location.

You can do a check online at www.flhsmv.gov. If you are looking for a printout, you will have to visit an office.
If I have a permit from Georgia but I moved here over 6 months ago can I get my license here or do I have to start over and get a Florida permit and then wait a year and get a Florida license

It depends on the age of the customer. We will reciprocate the written test for GA. If the customer is under 18 they must hold the permit for 1 year (6 months in GA will be included) or until they are 18. If they are over 18 they can schedule a driving exam.

Parking is free at all locations except for Yates, which is our downtown branch. In that case, there are metered spots around the building as well as a parking garage attached to the building.

Welcome to Florida! License is $54.25, Tag, title and registration would be approximately $390.00 if you have owned the vehicle more than 6 months. Under 6 months, you will need to pay sales tax or prove that you already have.

I walked in the other day since they were not any available appts until December. The wait time was around an hour .Overheard some guy trying to arrange a walk in but was told he needed to make an appt so l guess it depends on the nature of your visit.
I was told that if I have food stamps I wouldn't have to pay for a lost or stolen license and I've never heard of it. Does anyone know if this is true? Either way I'll be making an appointment to replace it but I was just curious about this.
