This is an average restaurant-- not bad- and not great. Its pricy for no real reason - but folks (like me) go there because of 'The Yearling" reference, and they are taking full advantage of that. I was there for lunch so we were seated in the front- not in the back where the books and much talked/written about decor is so that was a disappointment... but walked back to take a look after eating and all of that is pretty fun.. Our burgers weren't cooked very well and the service-- once we flagged down a server-- was OK. Overall tho no one working there seemed too happy about being there.. So now I've been there --done that-- but see no reason to return.

The food was fairly okay. It's got a lot of potential. The service was slow... I had to go find a random waitress to serve us. Not very good customer service but when we did order, it came out pretty quick and the food wasn't bad. I'd they kept up with their customers, it would be a lot better. I did, however, enjoy the scenery inside. The bluegrass band playing was really good!

I eat here quite often and take care of all the employees when it comes to the tan at the end. I called about 4 o clock and asked for a specific item on the menu . “Yea no problem we have plenty” come 7 o clock I walked in and saw 60% of the tables not occupied and was told that I couldn’t be sat . I was in no rush just waiting for the delicious food… on a positive note Ann is a 10 of 10 bartender.

Willie Green is a blues musician. The Yearling is open for lunch and dinner Thursday though Sunday.
Make sure you check what days they're open bc they're not open everyday
The adjoining Park to the Rawlings house has a ramp put in for the lake and the Yearling is within a short walk.
It was closed when I went there.
