Single parent been waitinn 90 days for a re certify for my ex wife. She lost her p ebt benefits bc this office is behind on applications. The benefits can’t be retroactive either. This office is rude and no help.

Worst service ever. I was supposed to receive the recertification call at the beginning of june and they never called. So i had to deposit all the documents and the recertification form in person. Since june until now (September) they haven’t processed my application. Every time i call everybody says something different, i went in person and the “supervisor “ said he would process my benefits and that was a week ago. This office is not doing the work they are supposed. How can someone with 3 little kids and no job be waiting for 3 months without food. This is ridiculous and very frustrating.

She can go to the office and see an Adult Medicaid worker. She can check in at Window 3 in the lobby.
If not, you are registered in the system you should go to window 4 for the GA program if you are single. If you are with children, it is the TANF program. These two programs help with the Rent. If it is for Food Stamps window number ro 0 or 1. You can go to Proceed Inc at 1122 West Jersey Elizabeth, NJ. Ask help with rent as long as funds are available. The Essex County Social Services is located on Willams Street in Newark. Another Essex County office is located on Rector Street in Newark
Case management depends on the department. Some departments process whoever's file is placed on the desk. Other departments divide the work by alphabet. Call center/ general phone # can also answer who case manager is if you have one. Never heard of any one getting medical equipment from them

I was in the same boat. The voucher is for $240.00 and cheapest fridge in the store they sent me to was 750.00. Other agencies don’t have the same restrictions on what the allow for certain items. I went to Coalition and they helped me get what I needed.

You have to go to the office, fill out a quick form and you'll have to wait to receive it in the mail. Make sure you call and have it canceled before you speak to someone at the office. That's the first thing they're going to ask you and won't help till you call and cancel it.
