I came here in January 2022 because my landlord wanted to reside in my apartment and only gave me a month to move so I needed help getting security. I filled out an application and gave all of my documents to Courtney Law in January. She explained to me that I needed to find an apartment to be approved for the grant money. I said okay so I began to search and search ...finally I was able to find an apartment and I obtained a lease. I called her multiple times with no answer so I decided to come in person. She was running late the first time so I left the lease with a note for her to call me..she never called so I went there the next day. She comes out to tell me she closed my case because I get disability because I have multiple sclerosis and I can't get help..she had my disability paper in January along with all paperwork ..now here it is March and my move in date is April 1st and she says because I'm sick they will not help me. She is very rude and nasty and why wouldn't she deny me in January when we met smh.. so glad that I met a guy at another organization that was so hurt to hear how Newark Emergency treated me and decided to help even with a huge case load ...no one should be told they will have to be homeless with their children because they have a disease that isn't curable. I will never step foot in this place again and Courtney still hasn't sent me my denial letter which the other organization needs and I have sent emails to her regarding this matter. They pretend like they care but as long as it doesn't affect them they really dont...wrong kind of people to have working with individuals who need the help

I have went to this facility on a few occasions. Only to be met by an attitude and treated like I was annoying. The whole purpose for this program is to help. If you don't like the job why come to work. Knowing that you're already dealing with people in their most vulnerable state. When people have to humble themselves and ask for help. To go there and be treated like they're giving you the money straight out of their pocket is belittling and degrading. I just read the description of the uppermost employees. And if any of what is written true. Why not employ others with the same mindset?! They have to do better.

I went to get help with my section 8 voucher and received no help. During all these years, I've brought people here for help with various issues and they received it. I'm born and raised here and now that I need it the most was denied! Front desk worker: Central or South American. Weeks later turned into Goodwill. What's going on? America!?!?

Good place to go shower if needed and you can eat also you can wash your clothes use the phone to contact jobs and friends and family either way you will feel better walking back outside. A.M.M..
