Very peaceful naturalistic wetland park in northern Cook County. Fun for the whole family.

It was a really nice place to take a walk. And the botanical gardens are right at the halfway point of the 4.4 mile loop, which was a great detour for us! I definitely recommend checking this place out, it's a bit different than the surrounding area. Not super exotic of course, but very nice.

Phenomenal, fantastic, unique display of Christmas lights coordinated with music that appeals to all ages! The walking trails revealed one surprise after another so beautiful that I will never forget it! Going next year!

Went to the Chicago botanical gardens for Lightscape. It was awesome, definitely would recommend. Do get advanced tickets. This is just a taste of what they had. We regularly go to the gardens, they always have it updated for the seasons..

Near the rose garden. It's a hill with multiple waterfalls as you climb up. It's to the right of the start of the rose garden near the building.
No.
There are bathrooms by the main entrance building, by the fruit and vegetables garden, bathrooms by the circle garden and banzai area and there is plenty of space to picnic.
Thank you. The laws in Illinois are very loose with SUP and I've seen ppl paddling where I says they don't allow. Just wanted to make sure. Don't want to break any rules.
Contact the Botanical Gardens in Glencoe and they might be able to direct you. Willowbrook in Glenn Ellyn may also be able to help. Good luck.

Check their website or call them, rentals vary and are limited right now due to Covid.
It depends on the weather if they rent them out. It's best to give them a call and ask.
I've seen a lot of people fishing the Lagoons. I would enter from a quieter section than the boat launch
$20 for a single kayak, $25 for a tandem. http://www.chicagoriverpaddle.com/#/
No fee to enter or park. Also accessible by foot/bicycle via the North Branch Trail.
I believe in the second dam there is a table area but it is closed for now
All Skokie Lagoons Cook County Forest Preserve parking is free. Whoever initiated the information about paying for parking might be confusing the ccfpd Skokie Lagoons with the Botanical Gardens abutting the forest Preserve to the north. At this Cook County Forest Preserve District-owned Chicago Botanic Garden, visitors do pay big bucks for parking there. Now someone said why should taxpaying visitors pay for use of a tax-supported facility? My view is that only a portion of the facility's expenses are paid by the general public through taxes and thus fee-paying visitors pay a larger share of the facility's upkeep than the general public who might have no interest in the place. That seems fair to me.
To everyone who is giving wrong Information... Skokie lagons is Forest Preserve and it's free it's right of 94 and Tower Rd.... No admission no parking fee.... Botanic garden you pay for parking, but that is different place which you access from lake cook Rd!!!
I believe it's $60 for an all day rental. otherwise it's by hour. The canoe price was $20/hour. A tandem kayak was $25.
Parking is free for the lagoons. There is also no membership. You just show up and walk around the lagoons
For parking

Effectively man made. It was a swamp, but dug out during the depression as a CCC project.
