It's a decent campsite because there's a porta potty and there are grills to BBQ but the trail is overgrown and the pond is super small you won't want to do any fishing here. It's also stated in another review that there is a natural spring here, this is untrue. It is a small brackish pond with a large PVC pipe sometimes pouring water into it. The camps are too close to eachother and there are always too many people here, I don't drive miles into a natural area to be around a bunch of strangers, I do it looking for solitude. It's such a shame to have miles and miles and miles of open space just to end up in a small fenced in area needing to set up camp within 15-20 feet of one another.

Good spot to hike, run, walk, bike. The trails need better maintenance. The trail disappears in certain spots. The trail that circles by the campground is overgrown.

Decent spot for free camping. Fairly quiet and 3 bars of Tmobile. Do not trust Google Maps guidance and access from Gate 1 at 27.161840,-80.440530. Lock can be hard to open, mess with it as long as needed. Campsite is 2.5 miles from the road and there are free roaming cows on the trail. Saw a bunch of birds and a possum. Plenty of mosquitoes during the summer. This is accessible for a van.

The road and it's long and slightly difficult if you do not have four wheel drive. But the campsite itself is very pretty with old Florida trees and Spanish moss hanging off of it.

Go to Allapattah Flats website. Under "recreation" you will see an option that says "special use license". Click on that and fill out form before submitting. You will get an email with conformation and the gate combination.
You can drive to the beautiful campsite. The parking area is very small , may be 3 car spaces, and is right next to the camping spots. Each campsite has a fire ring and a table. There are no bathrooms. This spot has a small bubbling lake and it is beautiful and peaceful. Tons of hiking and mountain biking possibilities. Love this spot.
You can only stay here short term. Florida Wildlife Comission (FWC) patrols regularly
It is a primitive camp site, yes tents only
