Wonderful experience with exceptional staff. Cozy and warm, and parking is validated. They need donors so consider donating with UNC!

The people at this facility is amazing, friendly, efficient and always grateful for your donation. They will take outstanding care of you. They need donations desperately so please if you have time go donate platelets. Relax for an hour with a cold drink and a snack. Somebody needs this desperately and you will be in excellent hands. Cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Every time I donate is such a wonderful experience! The staff are professional and friendly and warm, and they take really good care of you. They have nice warm blankets, snacks and drinks, and you can donate comfortably while watching shows or reading a book. It's very convenient to donate, and afterwards they send you the demographics of the patient you helped with your platelets. I'm a more petite Asian female and wanted a way to donate without donating whole blood, so this is nice that you can donate platelets and still have your red blood cells returned to you. Highly recommend donating here!!!

I don't believe you can donate to a particular individual, but even if your specific platelets don't end up being given to your friend, you can rest assured that because someone out there has donated platelets too, your friend's needs will be met. So if you can do the same for another someone, I think that's an awesome way to give back! And hey, you can still donate in honor of your friend! :)
You do not have to be a resident of NC to donate platelets!
You will just need a photo ID to donate however we do ask you to make an online appointment. Please be very hydrated and have been off aspirin for 48 hours prior. If you call us 2 days after you have given platelets we can tell you your blood type!
Hi Chris! I am the Donor Recruiter for the center. We do not collect plasma at our center. All of our donors are volunteer platelet donors and do not get paid.
Hi Matt! I am the Donor Recruiter for the center. No, platelet donors at our center do not get paid for their donations. However, donors get free snacks, parking, and a travel mug. If you bring a friend you get free movie tickets and if you bring 2 or 3 friends you get free pizza!
