It's after midnight on a Saturday, so I can't call them or go in until Monday, does the $45 smog include vehicles requiring the STAR inspection? 2000 Tacoma PreRunner for reference. Thanks in advance.

Highly doubt ANY smog shop will open up after midnight or even after closing hours.. best place to ask would be Smoggies Smog Check, during g business hours of course.

Will you be able to test with a check engine light on and or is it an automatic fail?

Check engine lights mean automatic fails to the system itself, regardless of where you go.
