I didn't complete what I wanted to get done. According to their website, you have to sign-up for a policy through a private insurance company rather than buy one directly on-line from the authority itself.

I'm going to preface this with the fact that I have not applied for this insurance nor do I ever plan to. I was sent a letter in the mail with a letterhead tricking me into believing it was sent by my insurance company. However there was no additional information attached other than a pamphlet for earthquake insurance. I refuse to believe that any company that engages in subversive marketing tactics and tricking potential customers is legitimate. And I bet you any five-star reviews are just fake accounts to boost review average. And as a side note to anyone reading this, any actual legit company is not going to tell you that they cannot be contacted and that you have to go through an outside agency.

Good if you want to buy earthquake insurance. Use the premium calculator to evaluate the different options.

Great question and great timing, Raymond! We will actually be posting an extensive blog on the topic of earthquake risk in Sacramento to our website in September—stay tuned! In the meantime, you can check out the earthquake probability in your region here: https://www.earthquakeauthority.com/California-Earthquake-Risk/Faults-By-County

How to cancel CEA ads as notifications. I no longer own a house/building.

William W. Massengill | Sep 25, 2020
California Earthquake Authority | Sep 25, 2020

Hi William, if you are receiving CEA emails and do not wish to do so, all of our emails offer unsubscribe options. We do place online and TV advertisements in California locations, and those ad placements run for a specific amount of time. Even if you do not own your property, and rent instead, we do recommend considering earthquake insurance for renters. If this has not answered your specific question, we invite you to contact us M-F, 8-5, through our customer service: (888) 423-2322. Thank you.

who do I talk to about retro fitting my house

Barbara Everson | Sep 25, 2020
California Earthquake Authority | Sep 25, 2020

Hi Barbara, if you’re interested in retrofitting your house, you should contact a contractor. If you need help finding one, we have a contractor directory on our Earthquake Brace + Bolt (EBB) program website. This directory is not an endorsement or approval, but a list of contractors who have successfully completed the FEMA training for seismic retrofit of single family wood-frame houses. Our EBB program offers qualified homeowners up to $3,000 for seismically retrofitting their house. You can learn more here: https://www.earthquakebracebolt.com/

No you cannot, all CEA policies are serviced by the primary carrier that insures the fire policy on your home such as me as an agent with Nationwide, the agent can usually make the payments for you or their also may be a customer service the insurance companies use to help with this
