I have banked there 15 years and have had a very good experience with my bank
James Dorrington
My family has been banking here since this bank opened in Bunker Hill. I choose not to have an account as I perfer credit unions. But sometimes I have to use this bank as my grandfather is elderly and occasionally requires help with his banking. At times he will write a check to me for cash that I then return to him. I have been doing this for years. I sign the check and provide a state issued driver's license everytime. I have never been requried to do anything else. Today the teller took the check and license at the drive thru window without any communication not even a word of greating and cashed the check without asking what bills I would like. She the returned and smugly informed me that I needed to put my thumbprint on the check. She explained that I might be a criminal and that having my thumbprint would allow the police to catch me. I would think a copy of my driver's license would be more helpful. My thumbprint doesn't have my address on it. She then explained that this was federal policy and that all banks are doing this for checks being cashed by someone without an account. I later contacted my credit union and they knew of no such federal policy. My issue is not with the policy but the attitude of the teller and the fact that there was no notice of this requirement. As a member of this community I expected more from this so called community bank.James, credit unions and banks are governed under different rules. My Branch Leader Robin Payne will be reaching out to you to come to an amicable conclusion to this matter.
