I have been a practicing physician for 35 years. I have been a practicing residency trained Emergency Medicine physician for 30 years. In that time I have worked in several hospitals across the country. In the past 20 years I have worked at or had associations with almost every hospital on Delmarva. When old injuries, wear and tear forced me to get both of my hips replaced, I realized I had several options. I live in Cambridge Maryland. I have professional associations with a number of 'big name' hospitals such as the University of Maryland, Johns Hopkins, Jefferson Hospital Medical Center, and Christiana. Likewise, relationships with several orthopedists on the Eastern Shore and Delaware. This would be my first major surgery. It will be life changing because the extent of my pathology had severely limited a very active life style. I had some very important choices to make. There is a reason why physicians are terrible patients. We know too much. We have seen too much. Ignorance is bliss. Even when everything goes as planned there can be unexpected complications and devastating out comes. I needed to pick the place I believed had the best record for out comes for this surgery and for patient safety. I did my due diligence. After extensive research, I finally chose TidalHealth Nanticoke. There, I had the choice of 3 outstanding orthopedic surgeons. Experienced, hard working, and cutting edge with their use of the DaVinci robot. The surgeon who performed my surgery, Dr William Doran, chose me more than chose him. Of the three orthopedic surgeons, any of whom I would trust in a heart beat, he was the first available to see me. This was for what I had expected to be a quick visit, quick fix, and off I go. It wasn't. But most important, it was the hospital. The OR staff, the recovery personnel, the physical therapy staff and most certainly the Orthopedic Floor nursing and technician staff where the ones who needed to be on their game. They were the ones that I knew, after 30 years of medical practice, could make or break my experience and my outcome. I was not disappointed. In fact at every stage of my care, my expectations were constantly exceeded. The concern, compassion, the professionalism were exceptional. Now you may think it was all great because I was a physician. Truth is, most of the staff did not know who I was. I really did not want them to know. I have every reason to believe they saw me as a individual with the same needs, expectations and yes, anxiety as any patient. As I near completion of my recovery, I really do not have the words to adequtely express how impressed I am with this small community hospital. A hospital that struggles with the peculiarities of our schizophrenic health care system, yet succeeds in providing the best health care possible, and then all largely because of the quality men and woman who work there.

Absolutely the worst hospital I’ve ever been too!!! Customer service is non existent, place was unkept and dirty. I have never seen an emergency room that has no beds of some sort for a patient to lay on once brought to the back to be examined. Just curtained off areas with two chairs in each...no bed or cot and when I asked the nurse she said we only have one and it’s being used. Lol ok never heard of that in my life. My mom is 80 and had been sitting in a chair in the waiting room for 6 hours. What a joke this place is. We are new to the area so didn’t know any better….but never again

I would give them 0 stars if I could. I was rushed to the emergency room by ambulance from Urgency Care in Lewes. I was 35 weeks pregnant, unable to keep anything down, low blood sugar, dizzy, and severe lower back pain. When I got to the hospital they told me there was no beds available & I would have to wait in the waiting room to be seen. They checked my blood pressure & then had my husband wheel me to the waiting room… THAT WAS IT! Patients left the ER, but they never took anyone in from the waiting room. I was throwing up in a dish in the waiting room in front of other patients (how disgusting for them & embarrassing for me). My husband was told they would see us when they could. While waiting over 2.5 hours another lady in the room requested to talk to someone as she had been there since 8:30am with her son who had a head injury & still hadn’t been seen (it was 12:15pm when she asked to talk to someone). My husband & I arrived at the ER at 10:30am & then left a little before 1pm while NEVER BEING SEEN! The nurse told us that we could wait or go to another ER. We are from PA, so we ended up traveling back home - 7hrs to go to our Labor & Delivery to be told I had severe dehydration, low blood pressure & sugar, and tested positive for Covid. Tidal Health is the WORST place you could go for ANY type of care. Save yourself & go somewhere else! I get there could have been a staff shortage, but you don’t have a 35 week pregnant woman rushed by ambulance to your ER & place them in your waiting room without checking ANYTHING! Terrible medical practice! They shouldn’t be in business & need their place looked at! I can’t give this place a bad enough review!

I wanted to rate a big fat 0. Is this hospital a scam or they just need money. I was told by Dr. Munro that he spoke to Dr. Kahn and she would do the procedure to remove the catarac on my right eye. He told me to go to NanticoteER and she would meet me there to go over what she would do. My son came from Maryland to take us. We arrived at 7:30am, appt was 8am.when Ichecked at the desk, nobody knew of an appt., so they said they would page her. She didnt answer. I called Dr. Munro and he said to wait, he would call her. Well we waited that cpld ER waiting area until noon ER charged us $425.00 for NO SERVICES RENDERED. Stay away.
