We were planning to purchase our first home which should be an exciting experience. Our experience with Society was very disappointing. The broker we had was not upfront with us, and wasted our time. We were pre-approved however with the lack of communication and zero sense of urgency we almost lost the home. We did lose money during the process, we paid for an appraisal through Society, non-refundable of course; we were also charged a penalty from the seller due to us not being able to close on the date we set with the broker at Society. We also had the added cost of paying for temporary housing for a family of 6 until we could get a mortgage approval through another lender. Sad that we had to switch to another lender to salvage this home, and we are out a few $1,000.
