I'm a foreigner, a short-term travel visitor to Miami (90 days). I wanted to use the library, so I filled out a membership registration document and presented an ID card. (I clearly wrote down the address I lived for 90 days) However, the librarian looked at my ID card and said that it was generally difficult to sign up for membership, limited to six months, and only five books could be borrowed. The reason was that I borrowed the book and didn't return it. I felt very bad because I felt like I was being discriminated against. I am a short-term visitor to the United States, but I have the financial ability to buy many books and have a master's degree. I've never been treated like that anywhere in the world.

Was racially profiled many times by many employees at this library for being non Hispanic even treated differently and filed many complaints... One librarian (Hispanic) failed to assist me and acted as if I had to speak spanish for her to understand/ assist me, when confronted she called another male librarian (white) who became very aggressive in nature all because I ask for a chair to sit at the computer table, he grabbed a chair and threw it at the table, this all happened upstairs in the children's section/ area I was shocked! It was horrific, he then stormed out after his temper tantrum, I've reported the incident, it's like nothing was done again because he's white, he was still there an entire two years later, I no longer see him but I believe he was just transferred after two years and because other complaints about that incident was filed. I would be in fear just going there and seeing him being a domestic abuse survivor it was very difficult for me as well because I am of indian descent he was favored as well as others. Going to Miami-Dade public library system for over 3 decades this is the first time I've experienced such behavior and racism, in the area of Westchester.

It's an amazing library. Spacious and well staffed. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. The aura in the building is welcoming and great to study.
