Positive: Location is perfect. Have stayed several times here and have never been disappointed. Negative: Noticed 2 bugs in the bathroom. Had an incident where a Rottweiler escaped a guests room and went after our puppy. Within seconds and inches we were able to grab our puppy and owner was able to grab the rotweiller. Aggressive breeds should be restricted.

My father is a Veteran, can hardly walk, and has an ESA (Emotional Support Animal), that we were not going to leave home by herself in a house that is all closed up due to a black-out in our community, we had to seek alternative options; without AC our home is like an oven. We originally made reservations at Barona Resort and Casino, but NOT PET-FRIENDLY and DO NOT CONSIDER VETERAN'S ESA's as a Service Animal. The Night Manager at Barona was determined not to let a Toy Chihuahua weighed less than 7lbs. stay there for one night. My father was nice enough to tell them he was going to drive all the way back home, over 30mi. I put the stop and told them to cancel, we are NOT going to stay at a place that does accept pet's. We found the Best Western Santee Lodge, the Front Desk lady, I wish I can remember her name, she was the most welcoming, great personality, and very empathetic as to what just happened to us at Barona. They are Pet-friendly but if the pet is not a service animal they charge a $30 a day stay for the pet a well. I'd agree with that, but since my dad is a VETERAN, and his Toy Chihuahua is an ESA she stayed for free. She made it all clear on as to what she needed to know and wanted to know. She was amazing with making my father feel like we would all be safe including his ESA, Beauty. Thank you again lady whose name I forgot, for the most amazing welcome experience and even wonderful empathy.

The staff was very friendly during the check in. It was in a location near the highway and a few restaurants. There was a 7/11 within walking distance for drinks. The pool was clean. The towels in the room were stained but about what's expected from a Best Western. The room seemed clean otherwise. The internet was good enough for work and the TV had lots of channels.
