Discriminatory practices, stay away! This place is a huge disappointment and an extreme lack of basic customer service. I worked with Castiana Johnson, (Nightlife Manager) at Sugar- Miami for several weeks and confirmed a reservation for 6 guests on Saturday the 10th of September at 7pm. This was a special event for my husband’s 50th birthday celebration. Castiana confirmed a rooftop table with two “birthday platters” and all other menu items to flow throughout the evening for our guests. We had reserved the space for 2 hours that evening. I had a final confirmation from Castiana the week before that everything was all set! When we arrived at 6:45pm for our reservation, we were denied access and were told by the doorman that this was due to open toed shoes. Mind you, the ladies were in evening attire/cocktail dress and the guys were wearing slacks, button up shirts and one had dress sandals (it is Miami after all). I showed the doorman (and later security) Castiana’s email thread confirming our reservation and the schedule of events for the evening, but he could care less. When I pleaded my case and asked for a manager, I was told that “all managers are in a meeting and will be for a very long time, you’re welcome to wait!” I then called Castiana twice and sent two emails as well in hopes of getting some assistance, all were unanswered or not returned. Meanwhile, while all of this was taking place, we observed numerous men and women being allowed access wearing t-shirts, baggy – ripped shorts, flip flops, and so forth. For the record, I could care less but don’t tell my group we cannot enter due to open toed shoes when you continued to allow multiple persons to enter wearing flip-flops! To be fair, I sent one final follow up email to give Sugar/Castiana one last chance to respond and right this wrong. However, it is now September 20th, TEN days later and still nothing from Sugar. This only further confirms their lack of care, customer service and extremely poor and unprofessional practices: not to mention common courtesy to their patrons. Needless to say, the night was ruined. The car service scheduled for drop and pick-up ruined, the evening of celebration and dinner ruined. Sugar-Miami is a huge disappointment, the staff was extremely rude and discriminatory. Consider yourself warned, you will be much better off looking elsewhere to spend your evening or special occasion.

We spent there a Sat night, it was pretty busy at that time. The bar area got pretty messy at some point.. there were a lot of glasses, used napkins, water, and it looked really bad.. but after a while some guys came to clean it up which was good. Then we got a table and ordered some food. The atmosphere was at the top level! Music, vibe, green trees all together made the mood. Food was amazing!! And our server was very nice and professional! Thank you so much!

Not enough seating, drinks far too expensive, very dark, poor lighting

Nice decor and view on the 40th floor. Over priced drinks and mediocre food. Pass on this one.

Wilson, certainly the place to go : )
East hotel
yes only for table, but you can enjoy a drink and walking through the bar with a beautiful view.
As far as I know if u don't get a table is not any fee.
Not sure if it's different for the bar but we made a table reservation. This is included in the email confirmation for the reservation: For table reservations a $100 minimum consumption per person applies Thursday through Sunday and $75 per person applies Monday through Wednesday (Exclusive of taxes and service charge.) We thought the minimum consumption was strange too. However, once we started ordering, we reached the minimum consumption with a reasonable amount of food and drinks. That said, we explicitly ordered caviar to make up for a large portion of the check.
They have plastic in front of the bar and are serious about maintaining 6 feet
Hi Malik We recommend a nightlife attire. No shorts, sandals, tank tops or jerseys are allowed. Let us know if we can assist you further: Regards, Carlos Grotewold
Hi Mathylde, Greetings from Sugar! We don’t offer a 2x1 cocktail hour or discounted drinks. I recommend though to arrive 30 minutes before sunset so you can enjoy the view during day light and night time after sunset. Below is the link to the menu: https://www.easthotels.com/miami/-/media/swirehotels/easthotels/east_miami/resturants-and-bars/menus/sugar--128.ashx Regards, Carlos Grotewold Director of Nightlife Operations
Hi Karen, we certainly have valet parking right at the front of EAST Miami Hotel or you can also park at Brickell City Centre. If you decide to use valet we can stamp your ticket at Sugar hostess desk for a discount. Hope to see you soon. Carlos Director of Nightlife
No
Hi Alicia, All guests have to be 21 or above to be given access to Sugar. Underage are welcome with their parents before 6pm. Regards, Carlos
Hmm, link says it's a "private site" and asks for log in.
Hi Lorena, Reservations are encouraged. Keep in mind that tables have a minimum spend of $100 per person exclusive of tax and service charge. Let me know if we can assist with that. Regards, Carlos Grotewold
No
Call them. I'm sure you could.
It's a bar. They will ask for an ID.. Daytime is different though. Perhaps daytime is better for under age.
No hay happy hours.
They may have some craft beers. The mixed drinks is where they hit a home run. No idea on cost but it'll be worth it for the view and service
No we don't need reservation!
yes
