Nice well marked trail. Lots of wooden bridges over marsh area. Connects the big parking lot with a beach area closer to the entrance. One thing to know: be sure to spray yourself with insect repellent. It was a pretty dry day with no rain for days before and we got eaten alive by mosquitoes!

A lot longer than it seems and so much to see. Its a little adventure waiting and if your running makes the miles tick by especially if its only your first or second time there. Just a lot to see and a fun trail for a walk or run or with the kids...

Great trail! Fantastic views, decent elevation changes. The only downsides; in the summer it can be very still and hot under the trees and you can almost always hear the traffic on the road. It's not a very large park and they did a great job with what they have.

We are a retired couple in our seventies. Can we use our eTrikes on the trail?

I can't say for certain but there are plenty of bike riders on the trails. I would call the fort Macon number and ask just to make sure. The dune side has a lot of inclines and declines. The sound side is less strenuous.

If you start the trail from the Fort Macon parking lot, about 0.2 miles in you will encounter Fisherman’s Path that takes you to the beach and fishing spots. There’s other fishing spots accessible from the same parking lot, too.

Is this a paved trail?

The Sandy patches were very well covered with mulch when I walked it today. It was a very comfortable walk.
