Went to go visit this location which is a getaway location for me no complaints security just needs to mind their business if patrons decide to come on the property that has nothing to do with Amtrak they have no business saying anything to anyone other than that the air smell good the property is clean the atmosphere as always delighting happy holidays

I'm new to Virginia, as my husband is stationed here.. as I walked in asking about the train information and how it works. The employee had nothing to offer me and said go online but did not give me the website link or phone number to call. I asked to use the restroom on my way out after waiting in traffic from the heavy rain.. she said "No you can not! It's only for Armark train customers that have tickets!" I didn't argue and left. But mind you, there was no sign saying that? Just very rude lady.. was planning on riding the train but I'd rather just ride my own vehicle than dealing with people like that.

Nice, clean Amtrak station. Plenty of outlets for phones and computers. Employees were courteous. There is a large parking lot but I wouldn’t leave my vehicle overnight because I would be concerned about break ins. We got a ride here. Wide accessible ramp at entrance. The covered boarding area doesn’t protect you from the weather but boarding was quick. Most everyone went to business class which has more leg room. Since my husband is so y’all, we have to take business class. In the future, I will definitely save the money and take coach if I’m not traveling with tall people. Train arrived early and left on time. Unfortunately, we are sitting near smokers so it smells like we are in a smoking car.

Yes
As www.amtrak.com for schedules and pricing. Amtrak has discounts available thoughout the year.
There is the thruway bus that takes you to Newport News to board a train at that station for some routes, and for other routes, the train boards directly from that station
Yes. You can because it's closer.
Not directly
To Norfolk amtrak station it about 1 1/2 to 2 hrs from Staple Mills Main Street is about 1 hr and 15 minutes
There's no real check in but usually the train arrives at about 8:45 - 8:50 for boarding.
No. Auto Train only runs nonstop from Lorton, Va to Sanford, Fl and vice versa.
No, the station is required to remain open until all scheduled trains have arrived and all "paying customers" have disembarked and left.
Yes, 6 hours
The best place to find this information is from the amtrak website or app. Put in the destination and it should tell you all you need to know.
Yes at 280 Park Avenue there is security 24 hours a day
Not on the train but you can on the platforms.
There is no such thing as a federal service dog liscense, so that is redundant to your situation. If you have a service dog that preforms at least one task to migate a disability, then you should be fine.
Park as close to the station as possible. Some of the office workers downtown park at the stadium and occasionally their cars are broken into. There's always a small risk
I would take the Northeast corridor to New York and then taking the NJ Transit from there. The line is called North Jersey Coast Line. That train leaves from New York Penn Station.
Yes!
There are no cabs you would have to get an uber or lyft. There are 4 hotels in the area Google downtown Norfolk to find out which ones they are. I know one hotel is the Marriott.
They are allowed on the Northeast Regional Service. They need to be in carrier under your seat. Refer to this article for more info. https://travelnuity.com/travelling-on-amtrak-with-a-dog
No
You would have to call the station to find out or go to Amtrak.com. I looked it up and 4:25am, 11:30am,12:30pm and 2:57pm.
Yes for both they have security service that monitors it and the police ride through also.
Depending on where your going I'd take the local public transit
You would be able to start your trip out of Norfolk and transfer in Richmond, Staples Mills Rd Station or at UNION Statipn, DC.
No it doesn't. This train follows the Eastern corridor with the exception of Newport News and Williamsburg. You would have to catch another train from DC likely.
Reserving a month in advance knocks a few bucks off of a ticket. There is no set time that is cheapest, rates vary per destination and distance
There is lightrail station on the other side of the parking lot that will take you downtown there's numerous hotels within walking distance of many of the stations As for renting a car no you can't rent one here but if you're staying downtown the lightrail, busses, and good old fashioned walking will get you anywhere you need to go downtown and the surrounding area so I'd suggest trying that before spending the money on a rental car
Yes. It leaves daily around 6am and arrives at NYC Penn Station around 2pm.
I do believe at 0500 am .
Go to Amtrak.com for pricing.
Yes
Norfolk as long as you are out no charge also if you want to go out of Newport News it no parking charge and as long as needed. Newport News is smaller lot.
Yes it does.
You can catch the Light Rail across the parking lot to a bus station or walk up to Park & Brambleton Ave to catch one.
I would say by 5:45AM so you do not get caught by the train coming in.
Yes
No
Can't do that from Norfolk, passenger only.
All
Yes
It's at the Tides baseball stadium
Greyhound does pick ups and drop offs only at Norfolk Station. There is no Greyhound personnel in the station to assist Greyhound passengers.
