One of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in my life. I’m still in therapy recovering from the trauma. I went in with hope because the hospital said it was a new great facility. Little to no therapy sessions or time outside despite a schedule being posted with many activities. I never saw the doctor, only two NPs who disagreed on treatment. No one seemed to care about us or listened. It took days to get my clothes and even my birth control pills. To which then the therapist blamed my crying and emotions on that… despicable. One nurse even refused to take us outside when we basically begged. I felt like I was in prison and cried daily. One nurse took pity on me and someone my age and brought us a deck of cards. We played for three days straight until we were released. This was my first time in inpatient and now I know why people don’t seek help. This alone doesn’t even articulate the hell me and others experienced there.

This was the worst experience I have ever had Not only wasI physically attacked with 5 staff members standing in the immediate area I was detoxing I'm throwing up everywhere denied medication for that had diarrhea and was denied meds for that because they wanted to see it. When I tried to show them they completely refused. As I was throwing up a staff member handed me a trash can full of bugs I didn't realize I had my face in a can of ants my skin is still crawling. They allow the patients to scream and holler very belligerent language and punching walls. I Upon discharge I was told that I was referred to Odyssey house only to find out they never sent any referral paperwork from them they didn't even know I was coming so now I have to wait on a list while I'm still detoxing it feels as though trying to get help from those people will never happen. Completely awful experience. 😖

Do NOT let your loved ones go here, AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU ARE MENTALLY ILL AND DISABLED. this place is incredibly unorganized and the staff was disrespectful and out right mean, their behaviors were beyond disrespectful and rude. being belittled and disrespected while being in a crisis is recipe for disaster. Jacky the therapist (i believe that is her name) did not care to help or console anyone and she even ridiculed an autistic kids handwriting? who does that? She just sat and made snide remarks while “observing” people. Everyone treats the patients like burdens and just sits on their phones and treats it like a hang out and then get upset when MENTALLY ILL OR DISABLED PEOPLE need help. my doctor was amazing and i met one kind worker here. ONE. my heart hurts for anyone who needed help and ended up at this place, EVERYONE HERE lacked empathy or cares to give, the only counseling i got was from other patients, wish they got paid instead. food was incredible though and the people in the cafeteria were the only exception.

I hated it here with a passion..I am not racist against skin color but the staff sure was..most of them at least. I'm not even white! If anything I have more in commen with the black community than white...theu stole our LAND..but yeah. I got the help that I needed. And got alot of appreciation and compliments on my changed behavior the last couple of days..it was definitely needed. They are super super strict here though. Don't go here..go anywhere but here..River Oaks is better. End rant. -Jennifer aka Panda
